Benefits have become an indicator of a business’ DNA playing a key part in the Culture, Employer and Recruiter branding. There is a whole range of benefits on offer and very little is standard these days. We know the basic salary is not generally seen as the key benefit and it will almost definitely not be the key factor in keeping someone loyal to their role and company. Many companies have sensibly embraced the more ‘flexible benefits’ approach to appeal to a wider audience and provide a more personal and bespoke approach linked to lifestyle, well-being, and engagement. After all what is perceived as a great benefit to one person may not even feature for another and having the freedom of choice can be a huge positive.

Benefits will have an impact (positive or negative) on your employer and recruiter branding. To put that into context a recruiter brand is how your business is perceived as a recruiting organisation and what your business might be like to work for in the eyes of the external market.  Whereas your employer brand is how your business is perceived as an employer, i.e. the reputation your business has as a place to work.  Recruitment partners need to be allowed in to see for themselves so they can help to portray the best possible recruiter brand to the external market. As a recruiter, meeting a client on site and being shown around is one of the most powerful ways to get a feel for what it is like to work for a business.

Not all benefits will cost your company money on a monthly basis per head, the softer benefits are largely related to office facilities and culture – these may have an associated set up cost, however once in place have a long-term impact.
