As the Number 1 in Finance this role will report directly into the MD, forming part of the Senior Leadership team on their journey to deliver the company vision. As such, the role will develop over time and require a ‘hands on’ approach but also the ability to take a holistic and strategic view in supporting key business decisions. Developing and leading a business focused finance team with responsibility for budgetary and financial control and corporate governance based on appropriate internal controls and financial reporting.

Key responsibilities

  • Coordinate the annual budgeting, planning, and reporting process, identifying trends, opportunities, and risks.
  • Ensure all management information is accurate, relevant, and provided on a timely basis
  • Manage the financial planning and forecasting process, including P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow
  • Communicate with stakeholders to drive synergies, efficiencies, and best practice from an FP&A / reporting perspective.
  • Raise awareness of, educate and measure working capital management and cash flow
  • Improve the value of finance by partnering with the business, supporting with the project management lifecycle (exposure to suppliers, contracts, bids & tenders)
  • Develop the internal accounting control procedures
  • Prepare the annual financial statements liaising with the auditors
  • Provide credit worthiness checks / assessments on potential clients and subcontractors.
  • Input into strategic projects to achieve business goals


  • Professional Qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with relevant post qualified experience
  • Ability to build relationships and communicate at all levels throughout the business
  • Excellent presentation skills
