Objective
MDL Marinas place a heavy emphasis on customer experience. They needed an MRICS qualified, Board Level, Estates Director to ensure that a high quality and customer oriented service is delivered to the marinas, commercial and residential tenants across their portfolio.
The key objective was to maximise profitability through focused management of the estate, market rent, accurate service-charge and cost management. Keeping tenant voids as low as possible whilst being the technical authority, providing advice on all lease and property related matters to the team and MDL Board & Shareholders.

After many years of dedication, the Managing Director took the decision to pursue his own business. With a credible and long standing track record, his replacement not only needed to be an experienced professional, but someone who could maintain and enhance an already well established operation. An individual who could lead the team of board level directors and represent MDL Marinas at the Yattendon Group Board level.
The Managing Director is the Board Director responsible for the profitable, efficient, customer focused and safe operation of the business. MDL Marinas needed a search partner who would work with their Chairman, NED and existing MD team in close collaboration to identify the most relevant individuals in the market.

“It was important for me to ensure that both hires were culturally suitable for the business. My interview process had to assess technical ability, track record of experience and achievements. However, I needed to ensure that I delved deeply into the leadership style of the individual – particularly for the MD position. Uncovering the most suitable candidates who were going to transition into the organisation smoothly with as little disruption to the day to day operational running of the business was a key factor in my mind throughout both processes.
